A study reveals that the transportation industry is the second-most targeted in 2018, trailing only the financial industry. Among the transportation industry, the aviation sector has received an increasing number of attacks such as ransomware, phishing, DDoS and advanced persistent threats (APTs), which are meant to cause mass disruptions as well as to steal employee and customer data. The increased attack is due to a continuous digital transformation that has expanded the cyber attack surface of the aviation sector.
