Hackers defaced the Future Investment Initiative website and left messages that criticised the Saudi regime over the alleged killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the war in Yemen, and financing terrorism. The website displayed a doctored image of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman wielding a sword over Khashoggi. The website hack occurred a day before the flagship investment conference, from which many foreign senior executives and government officials had withdrawn. Saudi officials recently acknowledged that Khashoggi had died after a fight broke out with government officials in a Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.

Apple apologised to its Chinese users after Apple IDs were used to pilfer money. Some Apple accounts in China had been targeted by a phishing attack that deceived users into divulging their Apple credentials. Hackers then used the stolen credentials to steal money from mobile payment applications, Alipay and WeChat, which are linked to Apple accounts.
