HSBC Bank’s American clients were hit by a data breach after hackers obtained access to customers’ account information, statement and transaction histories, and personal data between 04 and 14 October. The bank said the attackers used a hacking method known as credential stuffing, whereby hackers used credentials stolen from other sources to access the bank accounts. It is unclear whether the hackers have attempted to pilfer savings using the stolen data. HSBC Bank said it had strengthened its login and authentication process and implemented additional layers of security after the breach.
