Malaysia’s centre-left multiracial political party Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), led by Anwar Ibrahim, suspended the voting results from Julau division in Sarawak after the tablets used for voting were allegedly compromised with a malicious anti-theft software called Prey Anti Theft. The PKR central election committee said the e-voting system at the Julau polling station failed to operate normally at 2pm on 10 November and 10 tablets being used at the time had installed the Prey software. The committee’s cybersecurity team said the software was used to erase the e-voting application, pilfer data, change passwords, and control the tablets remotely. Keith Rozario, a tech blogger, has questioned the claims.
