A former PhD student and a university employee have been accused of hacking into the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s system. The student had been hacking the university’s system for two to three years and collecting passwords and information, helped by the university employee. The student said that he stole at least six administrator passwords, some of which reportedly had not been changed in ten years. Students are required to use two-factor authentication when accessing the university’s intranet, but it is unclear whether administrators are required to do the same.
