The Electrum wallet suffered a phishing attack that led to a loss of 245 bitcoins (S$1,261,664).

The Electrum wallet suffered a phishing attack that led to a loss of 245 bitcoins (S$1,261,664). Attackers had set up multiple fake servers on the Electrum wallet network. When wallet users connected to these fake servers and attempted to perform bitcoin transactions, they received an error message with a malicious link that directed them to the attackers’ wallet. Electrum has taken steps to mitigate the problem and released an updated version of the wallet.
