Virus Attack Disrupts Services at 25 Hospitals

Health Sciences North (HSN), a public hospital and academic health science centre in Ontario, Canada, suffered a malware attack that forced its IT systems to shut down as a precaution to contain the outbreak.

Health Sciences North (HSN), a public hospital and academic health science centre in Ontario, Canada, suffered a malware attack that forced its IT systems to shut down as a precaution to contain the outbreak. The nature of the virus infection is unknown but HSN main electronic medical record system is affected, causing services delays and congestions at the Emergency Response department. The downtime also affected 24 hospitals in the region, which use HSN electronic medical record system.
