ASCO, one of the world's largest suppliers of airplane parts, has ceased production in four countries due to a ransomware attack. The malware infection surfaced at a manufacturing plant in Belgium, forcing production to be suspended for a week to facilitate investigation and containing. Three other production plants in Germany, Canada and the US are also shut down as a precaution to prevent the ransomware from spreading. ASCO has not specified the type of ransomware or whether a ransom is paid to unlock affected systems.
