The Park DuValle Community Health Centre in the US is forced to pay a US$70,000 ransom after being hit with a second ransomware attack in three months. The health centre has been trying unsuccessfully to recover its medical records database and scheduling system since June. The payment is considered a last resort to recover affected systems as the downtime has caused severe disruptions to daily operation. In April, Park DuValle suffered its first ransomware attack which also affected its medical records database. The organisation took three weeks to rebuild the systems from backups.
