The US state of Louisiana has declared a state of emergency after a spate of ransomware attacks targeted public schools in at least three districts. The affected districts, Monroe City, Morehouse Parish and Sabine Parish, suffered service disruptions as IT systems and phone systems were taken offline. The state of emergency, effective till 21 August, will make state resources available to help local government respond to the cyber attacks. It also freezes the prices of goods and services to prevent local IT consulting services from hiking their rate.
