Central Bank Confirms Website Hack and Data Breach
The European Central Bank (ECB) has shut down its Banks’ Integrated Reporting Dictionary (BIRD) website after unauthorised third-parties infected it with an information-stealing malware. The incident affected 481 newsletter subscribers as their email addresses, names, and job titles were stolen. ECB has said that no internal systems or market-sensitive information were affected as the webpage was hosted on an external network by a service provider. The affected website has been closed until further notice and investigating is ongoing to determine when the webpage was compromised.
