A coordinated ransomware attack has affected 23 local government entities in the US state of Texas

A coordinated ransomware attack has affected 23 local government entities in the US state of Texas since 16 August. A “single threat actor” is believed to have launched the attacks but it is unknown if a ransom has been demanded. Details of the affected entities are not released for security reason as the extent of the damages may affect vital services. Targeted ransomware attacks on US municipalities have been rising since 2019, with some local governments paying millions to restore vital systems.
