A US healthcare provider based in Utah suffered a ransomware attack that affected the medical records of roughly 320,000 patients. Premier Family Medical, which operates 10 healthcare facilities, was not able to access patients’ records after the ransomware encrypted several systems in the network. It is unknown if a ransom was paid but the healthcare provider managed to restore affected systems after engaging technical consultants. Premier Family Medical believed that no data was exfiltrated but has notified affected patients and the US Department of Health and Human Services (HSS) about the incident.
