Bank Exposes Customers’ Account Details in Data Breach

An Australian bank suffered a data breach that exposed customers’ personally identifiable information and sensitive banking account information.

P&N Bank, one of the largest banks in Western Australia, suffered a data breach that exposed customers’ personally identifiable information (PII) and sensitive banking account information. The intrusion took place during a server upgrade when the attacker accessed the sensitive database via the third-party hosting provider. The bank is still investigating if data has been exfiltrated and how many customers are affected by the incident.
