School District Taken Offline After Ransomware Attack
The Connecticut school district in the US reacted swiftly to a ransomware attack that affected about 30 staff computers. The infection originated from a link in a phishing email, which bypassed the institution’s anti-virus solution. The incident caused minimal disruptions to operation even though the school’s email server and Internet service were taken offline to contain the infection. Schools remained in session since the attack and staff have been allowed to use their devices offline. No personal information was stolen during the incident.
