PDPA 2.0. Manage. Respond. Report.

Learn about the legal implications of the PDPA Amendment Bill, key policy changes and the impact to organisational procedures, as well as how to manage and respond effectively to data breach incidents.

The Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Bill, which was introduced on 2 Nov 2020, aims to help businesses securely harness data for new business opportunities and, at the same time, strengthen their data security practices needed in the ever-evolving cyber threat environment.

Under the Amendment Bill, new sets of regulations will be imposed, such as the Mandatory Data Breach Notification that requires organisations doing business in Singapore to report the occurrence of any notifiable data breach to the PDPC within 72 hours. The maximum financial penalty for failing to provision data protection will also be raised to 10% of an organisation's annual turnover in Singapore or SGD1,000,000, whichever is higher.
